Additive Manufacturing Division
Description
Support unit for researchers or research groups that require complex custom parts for their research that cannot be manufactured using other technologies, or that wish to manufacture prototypes developed in their research, leveraging the rapidity of rapid prototyping techniques. We also have the facilities to characterise the properties of materials and prepare samples.
Lines of research
The versatility of additive manufacturing enables us to work in the following areas:
- Manufacture of parts with complex internal structures.
- Rapid manufacture of designs developed in general research projects.
- Study of practical additive manufacturing technology applications.
In addition, our other facilities render it possible to conduct research and development in the following areas:
- Study and characterisation of new materials.
- Development and implementation of software for reverse engineering applications.
Infrastructures
The division possesses the equipment and technologies listed below:
- 3D manufacturing equipment using:
- FDM – Fortus 450mc
- LOM – MCOR Iris
- CJP – Projet 4500
- Micro-DLP – Projet 1200
- HDI Advance R1X reverse engineering 3D scanner.
- Emax ball mill for nanoscale sample grinding.
- MM 400 mixer mill for cryogenic sample grinding.
- DTC-25 instrument for measuring the thermal conductivity of materials.
